I started to paint for a creative outlet while I was a stay-at-home mom and out-of-work graphic designer. I guess you could say I started to climb the walls and decided to paint them while I was there. When I ran out of wall space I moved to painting canvas floor cloths. People who bought my floor cloths put them on their walls, so I moved again to traditional canvases that were easier to hang. I keep it large and colorful. Maybe because that’s how I started, but I think it has more to do with how I see things.
I find beauty in weathered textures and surfaces that show history, layers of touch and lives lived. Little pieces of thought find their way into the picture through symbols and typography. Most of my paintings are about memories, long ago and recent, and they all tell a story.
